At Expat Focus, we like to be on the lookout for resources around the web that could help prospective expats adjust to their new countries. Today, we’re taking a look at the UAE and some of the social media accounts you should be following if you’re thinking of moving there.

Dubai Expat Community
Facebook Group

With almost sixty thousand members this is the biggest Facebook community group in the UAE. Members are encouraged to share their experiences and offer a helping hand to newcomers to Dubai, and what expat wouldn’t benefit from the knowledge that comes from first hand experience? There is a lot of information contained within this group, definitely utilise the search function to find any specifics, there is no doubt that there are plenty of answers here.

British Expats Dubai
Facebook Group

A friendly and welcoming group who all know what it's like to be a new expat, they are happy to answer questions and aim to foster an online community for all Brits abroad. A good sense of humour is important for any expat and this group is adept at laughing at itself and the sometimes ridiculous mistakes and missteps that are all too easily made when living abroad. Many friendships have been made as a result of the group, rebuilding a social circle seems less daunting when groups like this exist.

Dubai And UAE Expat Women
Facebook Group

A place to share the laughter and tears of expat life for all women in the UAE. This is a safe place to ask and find answers to those all-important questions, from simple recommendations for dentists to job opportunities and events, there really is something for everyone. There are also great connections to other smaller and more specialized interest groups, perfect for the new expat looking to make connections.

Isabel Regalado
Twitter

Mexican expat Isabel lives and works in Dubai. Her technology heavy feed is unsurprising since she works in the industry, if you are interested in innovation look here. There is a healthy amount of world news, entertaining animal GIFs and glimpses into her wanderlust inducing global travels.

Lucy Evans / The Dubai Divots
Her Twitter | His Twitter

This British husband and Welsh wife have been happy to call Dubai home since 2013. He runs a golf society, but his tweets are rarely limited to just golf, whilst her feed is filled with her canine and human friends at home and abroad. Both enjoy exploring their new home country as well as showing it off to their frequent family visitors. A young couple making the best out of an enviable sun soaked life and dealing with the expat highs and lows which come with it.

Iconic Voyage
Twitter | Instagram

This twenty-something British expat is currently living in Dubai. Her Instagram feed is filled with her passions for fashion, makeup and exploration, there is a lot more to the city than just the beach but it provides a great backdrop for photographs. She talks honestly about the realities of living so far from family and her excitement for her new expat home is simply contagious.

We’re always on the lookout for more accounts to feature - if you write about living abroad on social media, leave us a link in the comments and we’ll take a look!
