Hi, I’m Dr Martine Jones and I’m the owner of Hazeltree Online Counselling Services at hazeltreeonlinecounselling.com. I’m also a clinical psychologist, and I provide therapy services for English-speaking expats who are living all over the world.
One thing I’ve noticed is that while people are living abroad they tend to date. A lot of people are looking for relationships and end up meeting people while they’re living in other countries. So I’m here with you today with a little tip about some things to look for as you’re dating.
So, as you may well know at this point, there are a lot of different cultural expectations when it comes to roles for men and women, for partners, for husbands and wives, parenting, and a lot of times I’ve noticed that my clients will end up getting into relationships and end up marrying people without knowing the cultural expectations that are there in the country that they’re living in.
So my little tip for you is to make sure that you do some research into the culture in which you’re residing and make sure that that’s something that you’re wanting to sign up for and that you feel good about before getting involved with somebody abroad.
Many relationships can turn out beautiful and wonderful and happy, but a lot of times people find themselves in situations they wish they had known more about. So, for more tips or help navigating relationships and dating while living abroad, please find me at hazeltreeonlinecounselling.com, and I’d be happy to do a free 15-20 minute consultation with you.
Happy trails!
