My name is Rami Kremesti, I am a water treatment specialist and power station chemist.
Where, when and why did you move abroad?
I moved to the UK in February 2015.
What challenges did you face during the move?Finding accommodation and setting up a bank account.
How did you find somewhere to live? (e.g. how did you locate a suitable property?
what was the buying/renting process like?) found a B&B first. then looked at zoopla.
Are there many other expats in your area?
There are many expats at the Carrington Power Station where I work.
What is your relationship like with the locals?
I love the locals. The guys are tough men, friendly too.
What do you dislike about your expat life?
Sometimes I cannot understand some local heavy British and Irish accents.
What is the biggest cultural difference you have experienced between your new country and life back home?
Learning about NHS skivers, and people taking advantage of the benefits system.
What do you think of the food in your new country?
Love it. Excellent cheddar cheese, beef steaks and burgers. Delicious quiche Lorraine too.
What advice would you give to anyone following in your footsteps?
Must learn English well.
What are your plans for the future? Plan to develop my consulting business in the UK.
